DON'T SECOND GUESS, ALWAYS CALL 911
(NOTE: A person is not obligated to perform CPR if he/she is not trained)

To Start Breathing: (Victim is not breathing but has a pulse)
1)    Call 911 and follow 911 operator instructions.
2)    After you have completed call with 911 operator, call AWC Campus Police at 49500 or 314-9500.
3)    With victim's head titled back and chin lifted, pinch the nose shut.
4)    Give two slow breaths. (Breathe into victim until chest gently rises).
5)    Check for a pulse (on neck).
6)    If there is a pulse, but victim is still not breathing, give one slow breath every 5 seconds (12 times).
7)    Re-check pulse and breathing every minute. Continue rescue breathing as long as victim is not breathing, or until medical assistance arrives.

To Give CPR: (Victim is not breathing and has no pulse)
1)    Call 911 and follow 911 operator instructions.
2)    Call AWC Campus Police at 49500 or 314-9500.
3)    Find the notch where lower ribs meet the breastbone.
4)    Place the heel of you hand on the breastbone.
5)    Place your other hand on top of the first.
6)    Position shoulders over hands.
7)    Compress chest 15 times using a smooth, even rhythm.
8)    Give two slow breaths (see above for details).
9)    Do three more sets of 15 compressions and 2 breaths.
10)  Re-check pulse and breathing for about 5 seconds.
11)  If there is no pulse, continue sets of 15 compressions and 2 breaths.
12)  Continue until medical assistance arrives, or until victim starts breathing and has a pulse.

To Stop Bleeding:
1)    Apply pressure directly on the wound with sterile gauze, clean handkerchief, or a hand.
2)    Maintain a steady pressure for five to ten minutes.
3)    If victim is bleeding from an arm or leg, elevate it.
4)    Stay with victim until help arrives.

Heat-Related Illness:
1)    Get the victim to a cool place.
2)    Loosen tight clothing.
3)    Apply cool, wet cloths to the skin.
4)    Fan the victim.
5)    If victim is conscious, give cool (NOT COLD) water to drink.
6)    Call 911 if victim refuses water, vomits, or loses consciousness.

The Heimlich Maneuver for Abdominal Trusts for Choking Victim
1)    Get behind the victim.
2)    Wrap your arms around the person's waist, just above their navel.
3)    Clasp your hands together in a double fist.
4)     PRESS IN AND UP IN QUICK TRUSTS.
5)
    Be careful not to exert pressure against the victim's rib cage with forearms.
6)    Repeat procedure until choking stops.

Health Services may render assistance until relieved by emergency responder.
