In case of a major hazardous spill:
Immediately call the AWC Campus Police Department at 49500 or 314-9500
Provide dispatcher with information regarding the spill, injuries, type of chemical flammability of substance if possible.
Only trained and authorized personnel are permitted to respond to hazardous materials incidents!
For a major hazardous spill or leak: For a Minor/Non-hazardous Spill or Leak: The AWC Facilities Management Department has personnel trained in the proper cleanup and containment of minor hazardous spills or releases. The Emergency Response Team will determine the need to call in other agencies. For additional information regarding hazardous materials incidents, refer to the AWC Chemical Hygiene Plan and the AWC Safety Management Program.
1) Activate the nearest fire alarm.
2) Immediately evacuate the area, closing doors behind you.
3) Call AWC Campus Police at 49500 or 314-9500.
4) Do NOT attempt to clean up the spill yourself.
5) Provide clean-up/rescue personnel with appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and other pertinent information.
1) Attempt to contain the spill--DO NOT ALLOW ANYTHING TO LEAK INTO THE DRAINS!
2) Wear proper personal protective equipment while cleaning up.
3) Notify the Director of Risk Management or Director of Facilities Planning & Management at 49474 or 49480.
