Natural gas lines exist throughout the AWC campus to provide fuel to a variety of sources. While natural gas is colorless and odorless, an additive is used to give it a distinct odor when released into the atmosphere.

In Case of a Gas Leak Inside a Building
Remain calm. Evacuate the building immediately.

1)    Do NOT turn on/off lights or equipment.
2)    Do NOT operate any electric switches or appliances.
3)    Do NOT use phone inside the building.
4)    Do NOT use matches, cigarettes, or possible sources of ignition.
5)    Do NOT use the elevators.

Using a phone in another building, call the AWC Campus Police Department at 49500 or 314-9500 or 344-5555. Do not re-enter until instructed to do so by the Campus Police or the Director of Facilities.

Planning and Management

In Case of a Gas Leak Outside a Building:
1)    Evacuate the area immediately.
2)    Call the AWC Campus Police Departmet at 49500 or 314-9500 or 344-5555 and provide location information.
3)    Stay clear of the area until the area is deemed safe by the AWC Campus Police or the Director of Facilities Planning and Management.
